Penguins class have been out searching for signs of Autumn. We had lots of fun exploring the sycamore seeds and how they travel! We looked at how the leaves were changing and held them up to the sun to see their colours. We gathered a huge collection of acorns but are yet to find a conker!
Today we had a whole morning of messy, Jackson Pollock style, art activities! It was great fun!
Our focus artist for art week is Jackson Pollock. Today we learnt that he was an american 'action painter' who used all sorts of tools to splatter and drip the paint onto canvases placed on the floor. We watched videos showing how he worked and then had a go at some action drawing ourselves! We listened to jazz music, closed our ideas and responded to the music in our drawing. Later everyone had a go at making some edible artwork, using melted chocolate to create Pollock type designs (we enjoyed eating it too!)
Last week we spent the morning looking really carefully at some real fish! We found out about its gills, fins and scales. Then we did some amazing observational
drawings!
